The elegant house situated in the centre of the Greek neighbourhood, Rengigül Guesthouse still attracting attention was built in 1876. The ground floor of this three story house welcomes you with all kinds of ornaments, paintings, one more beautiful than the other, and antique objects. There are five rooms altogether on the second and third floors and a shared bathroom on each floor. On the top floor, there is small library and a cosy lounge.

The house carries the spirit of the old times not only with its architecture but also with its decoration. Even climbing the wooden stairs may take you back to your childhood spent in your grandmother’s house.

Its owner Özcan Germiyanoğlu has spent many years in Germany working as a pedagogue. Upon her return to İstanbul, not being able to recognize the İstanbul she knew, she has moved to the island. Besides the guesthouse, she runs an art gallery bearing the same name, Rengigül Art Gallery. The guesthouse is open all year round, and it is especially worth visiting Özcan Hanım in the off season, to accompany her in her joyful island days…

The guesthouse is one of those few houses of the island with a garden. This big garden is the creation of the landlady herself. The pavement is of river stones, the flower bed of all colours and the paintings hanging from the walls of the garden create an enchanting atmosphere. The breakfast served here in the mornings is as famous as the garden itself. Even if you are not staying here, you can still join for breakfast consisting of home-made jams, pastries, assorted cheese and olives.
