First built as a Greek elementary school in 1800's Ege Hotel is one of the oldest on the island. Shut down in 1923, later it reopened as a Turkish elementary school and served until 1963. With its title transfered, someone intending to convert it into a hotel took over the building which suffered severe wear and tear. Taking over the building from Ministry of Culture in 1986, they reconstructed the inner parts as a hotel while leaving its facade as original.
Serving under the name of Ege Hotel from 1995 and although there is poetry on the doors and paintings hung on the walls, it is not difficult to imagine cheerfull children once running around and doors opening with the bell ringing. You might play a little game by choosing your room to the lines which belong to famous poets.
The rooms located at the upper floors of the three-storey building have large balconies. All rooms are enlightened and decorated in a classy fashion.. The flower garden entails a bower where you may spend time.
